Massachusetts Society of Medical Assistants Tina Dubuque Memorial Award

The Massachusetts State Society of Medical Assistants, Inc.(MSMA) is pleased to offer a $500.00 memorial award to a deserving Medical Assisting student currently enrolled in your program. In addition to the award, the selected student will also receive a one-year student membership to the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), sponsored by the MSMA. We encourage you to distribute this announcement to all eligible students and post it within your department. Please feel free to make copies for your students.

Eligibility Requirements

​

To qualify, the student must:

  • Have completed a minimum of one semester in a Medical Assisting program.

  • Maintain a strong academic standing, including GPA and attendance.

  • Demonstrate professionalism and commitment to the Medical Assisting profession.

  • Attest to sitting for a nationally recognized certification exam after graduation.

Submission Instructions:

Interested students must submit their entry along with the completed Student Attestation in order to be considered for the award. The entry must be postmarked by December 15, 2025.

  • Your entry can be either a written essay or a short video (see specific criteria below) based on one of the six AAMA Core Values

Essay Submission Guidelines:

  • Minimum 500 words

  • Times New Roman font, 12-point, double-spaced

  • State which of the Core Values you have chosen

 

Video Submission Guidelines:

  • 2-5 minutes in length

  • Maximum 1080p, 60 frames per second

  • Minimum 720p, 30 frames per second

  • State which of the Core Values you have chosen

Those candidates who make it to the final decision will be contacted to supply the following additional information:

 

  • A letter of recommendation from a program instructor.

  • A transcript submitted at the end of the current term displaying GPA and completion of at least one semester.

 

Selection and Notification of Award Recipient(s):

​

  • Submissions will be reviewed by the MSMA Executive Board.

  • The selected recipient(s) will be notified by January 31, 2026, and the award will be presented at the 2026 MSMA Spring Annual Meeting on April 25, 2026.
